This previous spring I have taken the ACT once and the SAT once. I've received a mediocre score for both of them, although I took the practice ACT twice and scored 33 and 34. This upcoming year I will be a senior, and I would like to do some preparations before the year starts and I retake the tests. I would like to take only one of the test types multiple times this fall, and I need help choosing which one. Some of the questions I have is if I send my ACT scores, do I have to send my SAT II scores? Do colleges look at the SAT and the ACT the same? What books would you recommend for both test types? Anything else you could tell me would be very much appreciated.

<p>It’s difficult to compare your scores and tell you which test to retake if you don’t tell us what your scores actually are; however, I will try to answer some of your questions. Most colleges, in my experience, accept either ACT or both SAT I and II, so if you send your ACT scores, you shouldn’t need to send your SAT II scores as well. Secondly, most colleges that accept either SAT or ACT state that they consider them equally valid.</p>
<p>Thanks a lot for the information. I got a 27 on the ACT and 1800 on the SAT. I was also wondering: I was born in Ukraine, and moved to US in 2003. I speak English, Russian, and Ukrainian fluently. Would this make me a URM? If it does or doesn’t, does it give me any benefits when applying?

<p>^I hope it doesnt make you a URM. It gives you an advantage over others with good scores. Then again, I’m against the whole affirmative action deal anyway, so I’m probably not a legitimate source.</p>
