So, i recently got my scores back from the Feb 12 ACT and unfortunately, I got a 28. I studied for 2 months straight, roughly 2 hours a day. I got a princeton review book and practiced their methods and techniques. I was hoping for a 32 but I guess i just aimed too high.

Also, last year I took the SAT blindly and received an 1800. I also took the PSAT this year and got a 1850. The SAT/PSAT scores were from not studying or even reviewing.

On most charts I see a 28 ACT score is roughly equivalent to a 1860 SAT score. Anyways, My question is: should i stay with the ACT and take it a few more times in hopes of getting a better score? or drop it and try to improve as much as i can on the SAT?

My reasoning/excuse for asking this question is because I studied so much for the ACT to get a score equivalent to an SAT score that i got without studying at all. I need some advice. What do you guys think?

Was this your first time taking the ACT? Usually, people do a lot better their second time. Perhaps you can see what went wrong and prepare for it to take again.

Officially, yes this is the first time I took the ACT. But, I took 4 practice tests before I took the actual test and i scored 28-30 on them, so it’s wasn’t much better.

I took the ACT three times, and only improved on my third time. I got a 26, 26, 29. My practice tests were 30-31. I took over 10 practice tests. Trust me the first time usually doesn’t show what you are capable of. I’d stick with the ACT. I hoped for a 30 and got a 29. Don’t give up.

Get the Barrons book ACT 36, Aiming for the perfect 36. Study and completely understand what is covered, and review carefully any answers you have ever missed on your ACT exams, and your score will no doubt go up. This is so much more effective than an impersonal class which is not directed towards your individual needs.

I completely agree with you which is why i absolutely do NOT want to take a class. I realized that if i really wanted to spend 500+ dollars I would just hire a tutor. Also, the barrons book is not a bad idea. Is it much different than the Princeton Review book?

@Impersonations

Yea, I think Im going to stick with the ACT and take it again in June since I cant take it in April due to scheduling issues. That should give me ample time to study more and hopefully get the score I want.

Are there any other suggestions that people would perhaps like to give out to me? I would greatly appreciate any advice I could get. thanks
