Hey guys! I’m preparing for the December SAT and aiming for 2400. I’ve gotten 2400 on a few Blue Book tests, but now my scores are irritatingly consistent at 2300-2350 – I always screw something up. I’m starting to wonder if I’ve over-practiced and am just going autopilot. Any similar experiences or advice? :’)
Also, I haven’t been following the time limits because I’m eager to go to the next section, so maybe double-checking would help my score? But is forcing myself to spend an entire x hours every time worth it?
Thanks for the reassurance, @MITer94 I’m concerned though because people say your score is almost always lower than practice scores. If I’m getting 2300 practicing, I might end up with a score much lower than my goal. How was your experience with this?
For some reason, I did a bit better on the actual SAT than on Blue Book practice tests. I could never get about a 750 in math on practice tests, but somehow pulled an 800 on the real SAT.
I don’t think you should dramatically change your test-taking methods, if you’re already scoring 2300-2350.
I also did better on the actual SAT. I was scoring consistently in the 2100s over the summer (non-blue book tests). When I took the blue book tests, I scored in the 2200s. My highest practice test score was 2270. I scored a 2300 on the actual SAT!
I would say stick to taking blue book tests, since they are the most consistent with the actual SAT. Be sure to double (or triple) check during the actual SAT! Good luck!
Thank you both! Congrats for your experience @rhythmicforlife , and yeah, double/triple-checking is where I have the most problems :’) You’re totally right @chubii , I’m chill for most tests but I’ve never prepared for one as much as I did for the SAT! Hopefully it’ll all go well
I noticed with the practice test on the college board web site that it was harder than the actual SAT, especialy on the critical reading section, as I scored around 500 on the practice test, but scored a 650 on the real test.
