SAT Plans for a Rising Sophomore

hey guys, i'm just curious as to what i should do for the sat. i am a rising sophomore who just took the sat as a freshman in june, and i scored a 2200 (M 760 W 740 CR 700). i got 3 wrong on the writing with a 10 essay, 7 wrong on the reading (-5 vocab), and 1 wrong on the math (incredibly careless mistake). my question is, what can i do to prepare for the sat? i will be taking the psat in october as a sophomore. i know i have to work on my vocab. i have direct hits and know most/all of the words in both volumes. what other vocab can i study? also, what do you recommend to perfect both the math and writing. also, when do you suggest taking it again? thank you guys in advance for any advice
thanks!

Well I don’t think there’s much that you can do for Math and Writing. They’re really high and the most you can do now is just to practice by taking a lot of practice tests. As for CR, it’s pretty good considering that you didn’t miss any of the non-vocabulary questions. So, for CR, just study some vocabulary.

**** I wish I got a 2200 LOL

Since you’re a sophomore, the PSATs don’t really matter for anything.

If I were in your footsteps, this is what I would do:

Study, study, study over the summer.

Get RocketReview for the small tidbits that might help in Writing and CR.
I think Barrons is good for Math

And of utmost importance, take practice test above practice test. And review them very carefully to understand your mistakes.

Then, once you scoring in the 2300 zone (believe me, with the summer you can do it as long as you try) take it in October.

From there, you have the SAT knocked out until senior year, and you have ALL of sophomore year and junior year to pump up that resume for college. You won’t have to worry about it, and you will have your summer to yourself without having to study. And at the same time, you will have more free time to do all the other things you need, such as clubs and of course good grades, to make your college chances even better.
