SAT preparation in coimbatore area?

Hello people. One of my cousins is looking for SAT coaching. She will be staying in coimbatore for a few months. She is in 10th grade. So does anyone know about any good places for coaching over there?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank You

Actually I did not take any preparatory classes so I do not have even a basic idea about these prep places.

Hey,
All i can tell is you that most coaching classes a pretty much a waste of money. I suggest you buy the Princeton review sat guide and go though all the concepts there. They also have an 300 word list of the most important words you need to know. Once you’re done going through all the concepts, buy the official guide to the sat by the college board and take ALL 10 practice tests on that book. Remember, practice is the only way to improve on the SAT and this book has the most accurate tests since the college board makes the actual SAT’s. If you need more help with vocabulary, I suggest learning the Sparknotes top 1000 words that is available for free online.

ThE Key to success on the SAT is Practice and nothing else. Do as many FULL LENGTH Practice tests as possible and make sure to GO THROUGH YOUR MISTAKES after each test.
All the books i have suggested are available at flipkart.com

I hope this helped.

Well thank you man. But she wants to go for a coaching. I do not even have a basic idea about the place as I live in Delhi.
So any suggestion or ideas would do.

Hello MakBoy,

I live in Coimbatore and gave my SAT in June 2012. The good news is that The Princeton Review recently opened an office in Coimbatore and it’s in one of the prime localities in the city - R.S. Puram. I enrolled in a one-month coaching program at TPR. Although I agree with Happyaserver that the key to cracking it is practice, I’d have to say going for classes does make a difference. The Math faculty is excellent here (ask for Mr.Prabhuraj). TPR provides you with an online portal and everything so that’s pretty cool. But still, only if your cousin dedicates time to learning it would she actually derive any benefit. I scored a 2060 on the SAT ( 740 CR, 670 Writing and 650 Math) but I’d say it was because of writing 11 practice tests before the actual exam and pacing myself properly that I was able to score that much.

Here’s TPR Coimbatore’s email - tprcoimbatore@ g mail.com
And you can call them on this number- +91- 8220044271

@guyfromindia95 Thanks a lot. Atleast now I will have some reply.

I’m with Happyasever. I’m a high school student in the US, and my parents paid $3000 for me to go to SAT coaching classes. They were useless. The only thing that helped my score was the practice tests I took over and over again in the months before the test. However, I wouldn’t suggest Princeton review. PR isn’t very accurate. I would use the CollegeBoard blue book since it contains past tests. The next best would be Barron’s, in my opinion, because it’s actually more difficult than the actual test. So if she can get to the point where she’s doing well on the Barron’s test, she’s basically set for a 2200+ score. The only issue with self-studying would be the essay and English grammar for the writing section, but as long as she’s confident about her rules of grammar, tutoring is pointless.
I would also suggest that she check out this thread,

The first is the best guide to the SAT essay I have ever found, and it got me 12s (the highest score) both times that I took the SAT. The next two are every single past essay prompt since the essay was introduced, 8 years ago. Both were really helpful in my preparation, as I just repeatedly wrote essays to improve my quality and speed of writing.
