SAT questions and need help!!

Hello!

I am going to be a junior this year, i will be taking the P.S.A.T this fall and the S.A.T this spring. I started to study for the S.A.T last week, i study 1-3 hours a day (avg 2 hours). I have the cracking the SAT 2012 book by Princeton Review, 11 practice tests for the SAT &PASAT 2012 by Princeton Review, and Barron's SAT 25th edition (with a CD-ROM and Flashcards that came with it). i mostly been using the Princeton SAT books. All three of these books have been passed down to me by my sister who took the SAT a couple of years ago ( if it matters she received a score in the 1900). Both of the Princeton review books have been used the most (each book has a lot of writing in it so it is hard for me to study with those books) The Barron's book has not been used a lot.

My goal is to achieve a score of 1900+. And i will most likely take the SAT two times.

So my questions are

Are there any other/better SAT prep books? on most threads i see a lot of people suggesting the blue book? is that book any good?

I learn better when watching videos, does anyone know any good websites that offer good SAT prep with videos? The only site i know is Magoosh and Khan Academy. Magoosh you have to pay for the videos and i have not checked out Khan Academy yet.

Also how do you guys study the SAT prep books? I am a little confused on how to do this. so far i just been reading page by page. And for the 11 practice test for the SAT & PSAT i mostly just scroll through questions and work on those? I know this is not a good way to study. Any suggestions?

Thank's for reading and taking the time to reply! :D

Step 1: Take a timed official practice test. That will help us see where you are and allow us to give you better advice. This is the official test for this year: <a href=“Downloadable Full-Length SAT Practice Tests – SAT Suite”>The SAT – SAT Suite | College Board; You can take it either online and have it scored immediately, or do a paper test.

Step 2: Buy the Blue Book. Yes, it is absolutely necessary - it is the only source of official published tests by the College Board (the creator of the SAT).

Step 3: Come back to CC, report your score and seek more tailored advice. :)

Thanks for the response! I will most likely take the official test tomorrow or later this week and i will post my score on this thread! And i will get the blue book. Thanks again for your help!

Can anyone else answer my other questions? :)

I was wondering if anyone has the Cracking the SAT 2012 DVD. My computer doesn’t seems to have the programs needed to read the cd. Could someone tell me what software I need?

My daughter said the official SAT blue book with the Black book by Barrett was most helpful and most like the test. She said the black book is supposed to be used in conjunction with the blue book and it explains why answers are right/wrong. Spring for some new books. This money will be a tiny drop in a very big bucket of money you will spend on college and a higher SAT score can mean thousands of dollars in merit aid. Good luck!
