My son got his first official SAT scores back today and is disappointed in them. He will retake at least one more time. He got a 1280. He is thinking of applying ED to Syracuse. I believe they superscore. Is that correct? Also, do they require the essay and all scores to be sent? Thanks!
@Marcie123 They do superscore SAT and they do not require the essay or all scores sent. My son was admitted ED this year with a 28 superscore act to Whitman.
At Syracuse you apply to a college. Some colleges are harder to get into than others. I believe that Newhouse is the hardest admit. We were able to schedule a personalized visit of Whitman and met with the assistant director of recruitment. We asked about the numbers needed to get in and she said 28 SAT was average and I think 1310 SAT. I believe that Syracuse is big on demonstrated interest so ED is an easier admit.
Definitely go visit and try to get an individualized tour. Good luck to your son.
Thanks @nanny1. Hopefully he’ll score higher on the June test. My husband and I both went to Syracuse so he’s grown up hearing about it but we’re in CA so he’s never visited. My H took him in February for a tour and the Duke game. He loved it and is thinking of applying ED. He knows how competitive Newhouse is so will prob apply to arts and sciences.
