Sat Reasoning June 06 - Post All Discussions HERE!

DanishBoy: The statement said "If it is in group X, it is in group Y." It then asked what other statement must be true. There was no answer choice that said "If it is not in group Y then it is not in group X." That's what you would naturally think, but that option is not presented. However, the contrapostive WAS listed, which states "If it is not in group X, it is not in group Y." These logic questions very often are geared toward recognizing the contrapositive.

No big deal. Just thought you should know...

Hey spunkypundit, I think i got the same version as u tho i dun remember about the Mrs feeling lost in her daughter's house.

Seems like most of you guys got the technological advances version...

Lils 88, if you had the same test as spunkypundit, then our tests are the same.

i had 4 math but there was only 1 grid in sec.

I had the essay about opinions.
it was easy. i had 2 examples; one of which was made up (a personal experience).
My highest grade in the essay 8, i hope i do better tihs time.

o o h and you got 4 maths isn't it ?

^ YES! i got the opinion essay as well as 4 math sections. i gave 2 made up examples and then 1 about robert frost's "The Road Not Taken" where he chooses not to follow the crowd. However, i think mine went a bit out of point.

Does anyone remember the vocab answers? And what were ur last 5 answers for the comparing passages part (the last part of the section with 25 questions).

who has the same test as stuck on 1700 let's make the second version of june test please!!!

if you have the same test as lils88 and stuck on 1700 come to the thread of another version of 1700 please, we will discuss it there!

I had 4 math sections.
I don't even remember what the passages were about, i'm not going to remember the answers.

no - my essay had a excerp by mark twaine and was about dependency

OK - Now we know that there were at least two completely different versions of the June SAT. This thread is intended for the version with the following readings:

James Forten - a successful African American merchant living and working in 19th Century Philadelphia.
The Eye reassembles fragments into wholes. Author used the night sky as an example.
Women artists - Why have most great artists been men? Well it has to do with the social context.
Paired Passage (only 6 questions) about of all things weather reporters. I am not kidding!
Short Paired Passage - role of lullabies in evolution. One author says lullabies indirectly help the other says there is no evidence.
Paragraph 1 - A Latin American musical genre become popular
Paragraph 2 - Demanding researcher says check all facts

These readings all counted! I am positive because I had an experimental math section.

Sentence Completions: Here are a few to get us started -

Dilapidated - the house or building was run down and therefore dilapidated

Debiliated .. disheartened

Wrong headed .. Chicanery

Unorthodox

OK gang lets get to work!!!

the comparison passage was about cattle ranching and cowboys. i think i totally screwed that part up cause the stupid invigilator gave us like 20 mins instead of 25 mins for that section and i had to rush the last 5 questions.

yup mine too was about opinion and whether we follow them or do we develop our own ideas... i think i did pretty well on it...

Ok - we now know that there were at least two completely different versions of the June test. The version I took had four math sections. So at the moment, I do not know which section was experimental. Here are some questions I remember. This should help get us started.

I thought the test was MUCH easier than April. Do you agree?

Two marbles and four stones weigh the same as six marbles and 3 stones. If a marble weighs 2 ounces, how much does a stone weigh? Answer - 8oz.

How many combinations are there of 10 cars and 12 colors? 120

J and A donate books. They donate 39 books total and J donates three more than double the books A donates. How many books does A donate?
12

100 students range in height between 70 and 75 cm. What is the median height? Cannot be determined!

OK - lets get to work!

mine was about opinion and had an excerpt by Mark Twain too :)

Hi, i have a question on one of the math questions. I believe it was the 2nd math section.

The question was

If a number is in X, it is also in Y.

then it listed 5 choices. What was the correct one? I went through it found that they were all wrong and chose A cause it seemed like the only slighly plausible one.

with the scoiety influences our opinions essay i think i may have gone a little off topic. My thesis was that it is not in our nature to conform, but if we do not conform we become an outsider in society. Does this sound ok? Im really worried...

hey i also have a question about quotes in essays. I used a couple quotes on the technology essay. Is this a good cause i tied it in well with my brave new world example?

I gave the test on june 3 india i didny get any of those questions OMG could i have skipped a section??????????????
