SAT Retake for Transfer?

I took the test as a junior in HS. I was 15 years old at the time, nervous, recovering from the flu, and barely studied at all. Fun times… I scored a 1790/2400, 650 verbal, 640 writing, 520 math. I never took the ACT, or any subject tests.

Aside from that, I have a 4.0 college gpa and otherwise strong overall academic record. My questions is if I choose to retake the SAT, and I’m confident I would have a substantially stronger score, is March 9, 2019 is too late if the application deadline is March 15? Is there any way I can take the test sooner if that’s the only date I’m finding online?

Check the application portal. They won’t accept an SAT test taken after you’ve started college.

Where did you see that? I didn’t see relevant information in https://admission.stanford.edu/apply/transfer/testing.html

@FreedomWind I’m aware that they claim there is no minimum test score, but 1790/2400 is well below their expectations, my question is should I spend the time to retake it, or is it weighed much in a transfer application?

I’m gathering the dates from the College Board website

@84stag I know of one CC transfer student who never took either test in HS and took the SAT as a college sophomore, though it wasn’t for Stanford. I don’t have access to the application portal yet.

Applying to Stanford is something of a transfer lottery ticket, anyway. I guess I should just try my luck as is
