Hey guys,
As someone who got a mediocre SAT(old)/ACT score in high school (26 and 1690…) would it be best if I retake these tests and also attempt to take subject tests as well?
How important are the scores on standardized tests in the admission process? I’m doing my best to make sure I have the absolute best chance of possibly transferring but I don’t want to focus a lot of energy into getting a better score if they don’t matter too much.
I’m sure this is a question a lot of transfer students have as well…
Did you get an answer and did you apply? I think it depends on wether you apply as a sophomore or junior. Standardized tests weigh more if you only have one semester and a half of college work. It’s always better to improve your scores to maximize your chance. Good luck
I did apply and did not get an answer, but I will find out whether I get in or not in May
There is a lot of information in the Transfer thread. But to answer your original question @nick1234567892 it really depends. If you’re a more “traditional” transfer two years out of HS, I would (have) recommended you retake them. If you are ten years out, I would have told you not to bother.
For reference, I got a 28 on the ACT my one and only time taking it in March 2012, and was accepted to Stanford as a transfer for Autumn 2017.
