Hey people. So I took the May 2013 SAT and I scored a 2300 (CR 720, M 800, W 780) and I'm not sure whether I should re-take the test. It's my second time taking it (took it in January), and the first test was sort of a fluke, so I improved every section. Because of this, I can't benefit from score choice when it's time to apply to colleges, and most of those that I'm considering do implement score choice. My question is whether I should re-take, because I usually score 800 on writing and in the range of 760-800 on reading on practice tests. The reason I ask is that I've heard that, supposedly, taking the test more than twice shows that you're sort of obsessed, and that after you pass 2300 its sort of the same for college admissions. The implied question, obviously, is whether this score would look too different from a 30-40 potential increase to colleges, and whether it's worth the extra hours of studying, etc. Thanks.

You don’t need to retake. Further higher score is not likely to change your chance for any school. However, having 3 attempts on SAT may hurt your chance for some schools like Harvard. You’d better to spend the time in preparing the applications and writing essays.

ok thanks. I don’t think I’ll re-take it anyways, just wanted to see if anyone advised me otherwise.

bump…
