SAT Score 2260 but Math 680... What should I do?

I just got my SAT score back for the February makeup for the January test. I got a 2260: 800CR, 780W (11 essay), 680M. I had taken the SAT two times before this, getting a 2110 and 2120, with a 650 and 660 math score respectively. I’m really happy with my overall score, but I’m worried about how skewed it is towards reading and writing. I’m also bummed because I had been scoring higher on math sections from practice tests but got tripped up and ran out of time on the real test, and I’m good at math in school (I’m doing well in precalc honors now as a junior and will take AP calc next year). I feel like I could score better if I hadn’t tried to rush all my prep in before February, which was the last time the old SAT would be administered.

I’ve already taken the SAT three times. I regret this, but the first two times I didn’t realize that some colleges require all scores to be sent. Should I take the new SAT and/or the ACT to try to show my ability in math better? Also, if I took the SAT Math II and scored in the high 700s, would that make up for my lower SAT I math score? Do you think colleges will have any sympathy knowing that my grade had to deal with the changing SAT and that I don’t have another chance to retake? I don’t think I want to major in math/science related fields.

Thanks for any input!

I think you should take the SAT Math II and try to get a score in the 700s (not that easy to do if you study from a book such as Barons) and just send in your 2260. Chances are you wont do that much better in math on the act or the new sat, and 2260 is a really good score! Of course, if you are planning in majoring in math then retake it, but if not, dont bother

Take the ACT and see how it goes. The math is more straightforward so you may score higher.

If you don’t want to major in a STEM field then just move on with your life. Your performance on the SAT will not be a problem even at the most selective schools.
