Hello everyone,
First of all, thank you all for helping me. I have always dreamed of going to an Ivy League School. Okay, so I'm a sophomore in high school right now. I am Asian. My unweighted GPA, by the time of submissions, will probably be around a 3.9 and SAT around 2250-2300. I agree that these are low. However, I think I will be recognized in many national competitions. I pretty much know that I will be atleast a semifinalist in the USABO and hopefully in F=MA as well. I will do Physics Bowl. I will also represent my school in Brain Game and be on the Management Team (maybe even Editor in Chief) of a VERY prestigious high school newspaper. I do alot of extracurriculars as well. Do you think my extracurriculars and my recognitions will counterbalance my rather poor unweighted GPA and SAT? Do you think I have potential to make Cornell?
Thanks again!

your GPA and SAT arent poor…

Are you crazy? How is a 3.9 GPA and a 2250-2300 SAT score low? (Answer, in case you still haven’t figured it out, is: it’s not low). So yes, you have the potential to make it to Cornell. You are only a sophomore, after all!

Well, I heard that if you are an Asian, it is necessary to have around a 3.95 unweighted and atleast a 2350. I was hoping that my other activities would balance it out. Do you think I could make Cornell?

I know a bunch of people with WAY lower SATs, GPAs, etc than you that got into Cornell. You’ll be fine. Just stop saying “I will” do things and start doing them!

but make sure to enjoy life too

and how many APs are you taking?

@Koaf1994 said a key thing…remember to enjoy life. I’ve worked hard throughout high school but never to the point where it put me over the edge or where I had no time for leisure on a saturday night. You may look forward to college - as I am very much so - but remember you still have two years of high school to enjoy, so do it.
