So I took my SAT as a junior last year and got: M:600 CR:700 W:750=2050
I just got my scores for the October one this morning and I got: M:540 CR:630 W:680=1850

I'm so embarrassed right now, the lowest I ever got on my practices were a 1990; I have never taken a class, I just got a lot of books and self studied. My question is that I'm applying to UC Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD, UCI, and NYU and USC.

How bad will this affect me. I mean it was obviously an off day for me when I took my second tests but have I completely ruined my chances or is my second score not that important? Should I retake in December?

Seriously, 200 point drop? LOL how does this even happen? :(

Should not have any meaningful impact. UCs use that test with highest composite for admission. NYU and USC superscore which in your case would also result in using your first test scores. Also note that NYU and USC do not require you to send all scores (you can exercise score choice); the UCs do require you to send all SAT scores.

Thank You! That was super helpful especially since I’m still like super distraught at such a drop in my score! If anyone else can provide any insight as well, that would be nice!

Agreed! I guess I just wanted to see if this has happened to anyone else since I really have not met anyone who has had their score drop that much :(
