SAT Score of 1780, Should I Take the ACT for Admission to UNC-CH

I'm a high school junior, and I have taken the SAT twice. The first time scoring 1640 and the second time scoring 1780. I have two questions. One being, should I take the SAT again, or are my scores sufficent to get into The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill? And, if I need to take the SAT again, should I also take the ACT or would it be a waste of time. I am worried about getting into college and I am not sure what I should do. Please help!

The range for UNC-CH is 1800-2080 so you are a little shy.

You can certainly try the ACT or get a book and take a practice test and see how you do before investing time studying more. The ACT is worth taking if you are stronger in math/science versus the SAT that is really 2/3s English. My son did better and prefers the SAT though I had him try one ACT.

You have time to retake the SAT at the end of Jr. year or study over the summer and take it in Oct to try and raise your score.
