Hi! So I just got my SAT score for the first SAT I have ever taken and got a 1430! I know this is lower than the average for UM but what do you think are my chances? Also I got 21/24 on the essay I don’t really know what that means…

@ekomil… This is also just one component of getting in. What is your unweighted grade point and are you taking AP or honors or rigorous classes for this and next year?
I have taken 5 AP’s and many honors. My unweighted gpa is around a 3.95
Looking good. Some will disagree but with the competition increasing every year work on the Sat /Act
ekomil, are you in-state or OOS? The admit rate for in-state applicants has hovered around 50% for the past 2 decades. The admit rate for OOS applicants has dropped significantly in recent years. It was 20% last year, 17% this year and will likely drop to under 15% next year. If you are in-state, you have a reasonable chance (target). If you are OOS, Michigan is a shot in the dark.

With a near perfect GPA and a 1430 on the SAT, your chances are reasonable. Like I said, target. Apply EA, make sure your essays are very specific to Michigan’s prompts and try to really demonstrate an understanding of what you want, and how you will pursue it (them) at the University of Michigan by alluding to specific resources, courses, professors, programs offered at the University.
