Hey all, I had a bad day today after finding out I did terribly on the SAT. I'm above 2000 of course... close to 2100, but I know that is no where close enough. Everything else on my app. measures up. My GPA could be better, but I've got letters explaining family issues, and my class rank is still top 5% anyway...

Anyway, I'm signed up for the november test next weekend and have started studying (I would have earlier but didn't think I'd be taking reasoning again)

I'm just wondering how realistic it would be to get around 2200, and if that score is enough to not be an auto-reject?? (transcript- extremely rigorous, ec- lots of passion shining through, rec- good, plus an amazing supplemental one, teacher's like me a lot, and extremely creative unique essays) It's holisitic!! Am I okay still?

This is ED, not like I can withdraw my app anymore. (CAS ED)

Like a lot of 2300’s would get rejected in favor of 2100-2250 scores. I’m sure there is an explanation for that ----> lots of ec’s and good essays

Not that a 2300 person wouldn’t have that either.

I’d expect it to be pretty tough to improve by 200 points in one week. That is, unless you call absent in school for an entire week and study 12 hours a day or you by a freak chance scored really low on the Oct.

I have friends who were accepted into Harvard, Penn, and Stanford with SAT scores ~2050. Yes, it is very possible. I don’t know how possible it is to do it in that short space of time, however.

A score above 2000 but under 2100 is not a source for an auto-rejection. I have a friend that got into Penn/Harvard with a 1950. It really is true: Harvard does not have minimum cut-offs. If the rest of your application is spectacular, and if H believes you deserve a spot, you will be admitted. You may want to focus on other parts of your application, unless your score was abnormally unbalanced.

Yea, don’t worry too much about it! I think grades, which show consistency, and other ECs are more important. And you definitely can improve if you’ve been doing better on practice tests and stuff. I got somewhere between 2000-2100 my first time as well, but the second time, without studying, I got a 2290. You’ll be fine.

lol thanks guys. I am calling in absent and also don’t have school the Friday before. Plus I have many books that I never got to finish. 100-150 point increase would be great. Really all I want at this point.
