SAT scores

My college advisor said that I’m predicted to make a 1950 the next time I take the SAT (telling from the way I’ve been improving). I made a 1790 the first time, but I didn’t complete an entire section because I forgot a snack and my stomach was growling very loudly… Unfortunately, things like this happen to me all the time, so I can’t even say this makes top 50 worst days of my life! Do you think that a 1950 could get me into brown? I’m planning to take the US history, math II, and world history subject tests, and I’ve scored nearly perfect on the practice, because I’m learning about this stuff now. (although, I could forget a snack again and do horribly). Anyways, should I just forget trying to go to brown, or is there hope?

Compare your breakdown to the values in the most recent Common Data Set, section C9. If any one section is lower than around a 660 (likely, as three 660s would be a 1980 overall) there is very little chance for you. Brown, as an Ivy League, gets plenty of applicants with 2300+ SATs.

I’m just confused about how forgetting a snack makes you do that badly.

Well you see, it was the loudest thing on the planet so I couldn’t focus and then the proctor said there was five minutes left on a section I hadn’t even started! Couldn’t focus for the rest of the test either. I had been testing for four hours and didn’t eat breakfast, because I threw it up. I just get sick when I eat eggs, so I don’t know why my mother made me that! I hope this unravels your confusion… Very traumatic experience… Oh yeah but thanks for that information, but you got me going on the snack story! Probably the most important thing to remember on test day, even overriding the calculator!

um

Yeah I know… I didn’t plan for my life to go this way…
