I've been a little confused at Villanova's test score statistics. College Board reports 580-680 Verbal, 620-710 Math Middle 50%. Villanova's website reports a middle 50% of 1340-1430. There seems to be a discrepancy. Which is more accurate.

http://www.villanova.edu/enroll/assets/documents/CDS_2008_2009.pdf

The college board report is from the common data set compiled and repoted by the college.Actual enrolled students are in section C9 (page 10).

Villanova website reports accepted students.

So with a 1380 (710 M, 670 V), a good GPA, and ECs, would I have a good shot at acceptance?

I just toured the campus today and really liked it, which is why I was wondering.

The numbers on Villanova’s website are the ones for accepted students… collegeboard’s are the ones for enrolled students.

But yeah, a 1380 should be fine. Just make sure to be “passionate” about your EC’s, especially community service.

depends if your applying to biz school…

DiN009, if you are applying to the business school, is it harder or easier? I could not tell from your post

biz is far more competitive.

business school you need like a 1400

according to businessweek’s profile of villanovas undergrad business school, the mean SAT score is 1302… so you are definately above average

the current graduating class of the business school drags that average down a lot, id say avg will be like 1360 next year

hey i was just wondering if a low GPA would completly obliterate my chance at getting in to Nova’. I have a 3.1 unweighted but my school does not have pluses or minuses. My school is in the top 5 percentile for public schools in the nation. the My SAT score is a 1310 combined reading and math. I do a good amount of ECs. I am also black i dont know if that helps my chances at all though.

werdna: i would say you have a fairly good chance… what is your class rank though? and if your school doesnt administer one, what would you estimate it to be? i say if your in the top 10% you are totally fine and will probably get admitted, and if you are in the top 25% you still have a fair chance

essay, worry bout the essay. i kno ppl have said this, but BE YOURSELF

I agree with dbear… hopefully you are very involved in a specific community service activity that you are really passionate about… should make for a good essay.
