Hey, I'm a sophomore in high school, with above average grades (haven't gotten below a 4.0 since 6th grade) and am in all Honors or AP classes...today, I took a practice SAT test on College Board's website, and scored a 600 on reading, a 640 on writing, and a 710 on math, with a 12 for my essay.

As I understand, this equates to a 1950 overall score. I was curious as to how good this is for a sophomore; take into account that this is the FIRST SAT test I've taken. I didn't study too much for it, I just wanted to see where I was at.

It’s not phenomenal but it’s solid. If you are looking to score 2200+ you will need to improve you score by 250 points within a year. In my opinion it is hardest to break 700 if you are originally scoring in the 600s so I would suggest studying early.

Me too! I’m a sophomore and I took the college board practice test with no prior studying and got a 1930. My scores were all in the 600’s too, I hope I can bump it up to a 2200/2300 by junior/senior year

That is pretty good for a sophomore. You can definately get at least a 2100. Possibly a 2200 depending on how much you study and take in during the next year. I feel like its hard to estimate getting 2300+ in general, just because of how few questions you can get wrong. Definately on the right path. Wish I was at 1950 as a Soph.
