SAT snowed out, concerned about timing

I’m planning on transferring somewhere new in the Fall, and as part of that process I’m taking the SAT again. I know at most schools scores aren’t required at this point, and even if they are they aren’t weighed as heavily as would be the case for a freshman applicant. But I’m applying to some fairly selective schools (e.g. Georgetown, Columbia) and I think my current score of 2000 (720 CR, 580 M, 700 W) isn’t representative of my ability. I feel confident about this because that 2000 is an improvement from my original 1780 which I scored way back when, and I think if I took the test a third time I would likely see a similarly dramatic improvement (especially in math, my weakest link as things stand now).

I was scheduled to take the test last Saturday (the 23rd) but my testing center was snowed out and the exam was rescheduled for February 20th. With most transfer deadlines being March 1st or March 15th, will I still have time to send my scores to the schools that I’m applying to? I understand that it takes time both for the scores to be released and for them to be sent to schools after they’ve become available.

Thanks in advance.

Call or write the admissions offices and ask. Don’t assume that the CC community can give you a definitive answer. As this was beyond your control, there might be some wiggle room but ultimately its their call.

Various colleges have released statements regarding this. Some have said they they will take the scores from the February test, and some have said that they won’t. Check each college’s admissions website - if there’s nothing there, call!

I was at a transfer info session for Columbia last week and they said that they accept scores from tests taken all throughout March, so you’ll definitely be fine for Columbia, at least.

Great, thanks to everyone for your replies. I will be checking with the colleges individually but wanted to see if there was a general way that colleges were going with this first.
