Hey guys. I've only taken one SAT subject test (Bio M), so I will take Spanish in the fall. What should I do to study? Is it really hard from what I hear?

There’s a fill in the blank, then there’s a reading comprehension. I would say to just make you sure you know specific grammatical structures, go through any review book (AP review would work too), and get used to reading. I didn’t think it was that hard (I got a 760), but if you plan on getting a perfect score just because you’re a native speaker, think again. It looks just like an English benchmark. The only word on the whole thing I didn’t know was beca, which means scholarship as I was able to figure out.

Wuttt I got a 760 too! Twins! Yeah, it’s not hard at all. It’s kinda geared towards non-native speakers in my opinion, because it asks about grammar and really BASIC reading comprehension. Ok, that’s a lie, the reading comp was hard. They asked some really inane questions about “what did the character MEAN when he said this?” and “what was he insinuating here?” and that tripped me up a lot. But the grammar was good! I would take it in the fall because I heard that the curve was nicer in the fall. I took it in spring: fail…

For reading, I would go to fictionpress.com and read the spanish fics there. You could, and probably should, read actual books but they get really really really boring after a while and reading cr*ppy fiction introduces you to some diverse vocabulary, haha. If you’re taking spanish 4 this year or AP or something, I would wait until January to take the test because you learn a lot in advanced classes in my experience.

760 here too!!! But, I’m kinda a native speaker and frankly I thought I did better, nonetheless I’m happy. I found the reading comprehension to be simple, but the grammar is likely what killed me (Never learned it…).

thanks guys! when i get my scores back I will let you know if i got a 760 hahaha

hey I’m planning on taking the test in october, random question, do any of the tests require knowledge of the vosotros verb forms?

Yeah! My school doesn’t teach the vosotros form at all, and I was wondering if that was on any of the standardized tests.

You do not need to know vosotros. Just be able to recognize it if it appears in reading comprehension.

The same with the “vos” form.
Good Luck!

What level of spanish is tested on the SATII? I think someone told me 3, but i’m not sure.

Yeah it’s about 3. I took 1,2,3 and AP before the subject test (but there was a year between AP and the test) and scored a 750. If you have a good curriculum, 3 should be sufficient.
