SAT Subject Math 2

When should I take my SAT math level 2 test? Which month has the biggest curve? I'm a bit shaky on pre calc and I really want to ace this test.

also is it okay to use barrons as my guide? I’m thinking of getting princeton too.

You should take the test after taking pre-Calc. It does not really matter which month to take it. However, it is more economic to take more than one SAT2 while other subjects are usually best to take in June after finishing corresponding AP classes/exams.

thanks! i took pre calc last year and im currently taking ap calc ab. i thought june was a bit early for me so i registered for the october one which is 2 weeks away…(oh no). I’m a slow person at math and so far I’m taking notes as I review and plan to take a lot of practice test so that i can improve my time and get used to the style of it.

Take the Math 2 test whenever you feel ready. I’ve worked with kids who have received perfect scores on the Math 2 test on every available date. One strong math student earned a perfect score on the test even before he finished his precalc class (Jan. test date). The Math 2 Subject test always seems to offer a very favorable curve – it’s often possible to score 800 while omitting 5-6 questions. For a math/science person, it’s the easiest Subject test to max out on…by far.

If you are a “slow person at math” and you want to post a strong score, you’ll have to address the speed issue. Practice moving quickly through the questions…or else you’ll get hammered on the Math 2 test.

Out of curiosity, why are you planning to take a Subject test featuring material that you’re “a bit shaky on”? There are so many other Subject tests you could take.

yeah, Im planning to practice a lot with the questions…
I’m taking this because as a sophomore, I’m already taking ap calc ab so I thought i take the test. Plus even though I’m a bit shaky on it, I want to improve on my math skills. I love biology and I’m going to take that as soon as I get the math subject over with.
