For Cornell University Engineering, would it be better to take the Math Level 1 Subject Test and do well or take the Math Level 2 Subject Test and do not as good?

Obviously I would score 750+ for Math 1, but it may not look that good at such a competitive school. If I tested on Math 2, then I would predict 740ish.

math level II, its an easier curve so you may be surprised to get a higher score than you expected. also, for a prestigious university such as cornell, they wont be impressed by a high math I, math II is better hands down

lol…math 2 is 5x easier if you passed precal honor and understand alg2/trig very well, which isn’t very hard. Plus, they curve it so the average score of math 2 is eventually higher than the average score of math 1

Yeah, even for these past November SAT Subject tests, I found that Math II concepts were much more varied, but the concepts it did test were fairly simple. Math I on the other hand takes simpler concepts and tries to twist the ideas.

Simply put, I think I did way better on Math II than on Math I.

Even if you haven’t taken Pre-Calculus like myself, you can still get a good prep book and take Math II (assuming you have three years of math). The curve is relatively generous and the material isn’t terribly hard. It’s mostly a matter of whether you can answer everything on time (not always possible with the math subject tests).
