I am a junior planning on taking Subject Tests in January, for which today is the deadline. I am fairly sure I will be taking Biology E/M, but I am torn between Math Level I or II. I am taking Calculus in the International Baccalaureate Program, but Math I seems so much easier than Level II...I just don't know which I should select. My dream school is MIT, and they say they have no preference in the way of which test, but would it be better to do Level II? Any other advice about the tests? Thanks!

Hello. MIT officially has no preference but it is generally recommended that people who are doing math & engineering majors take the Math Level II.

It depends on what you remember more. If you just took Pre-Calculus, Math Level II is the one you should most likely take. Math Level I focuses much more on geometry and topics that are traditionally considered Algebra II.

However, if you do not think you can get higher than a 750 and definitely if you cannot than get a 700 (most easily determined by taking a College Board Practice Test), then Math Level I is the best option

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your help. Just took a College Board Practice Test and scored 790. Also, would it be crazy to take both? Thanks.

There isn’t really much point in taking both…just take one of them.

If you can get a 790 on the Math Level IIC Subject Test, I agree it would be pointless.
