Sat Subject Test: Chemistry Discussion June 2016

2 mols H2O

@bobthebuilder13 what was the diffusion rate question again?

@pranav23 @sodiumchloride12 the question asked about the ratio of the partial pressures, which was 1. Unless it was diffusion but I do not think it was (If it was Im pissed!)

@sodiumchloride12

The diffusion rate question asked which of the answer choices had the highest diffusion rate. They were all organic molecules. Since methane was the lightest, it was the correct answer.

F**K!!! I didn’t divide by 2 for the H20!!! I’ll HAVE TO CANCEL!!! OH NO!!! I’m SO stupid. I’m the worst chemistry student among all the test-takers!!!

Dude chill, one question isn’t going to set you back 80 points

But what if I made other calculation mistakes? Then this would destroy my score…So scared pray, pray, pray for a very good curve

@bobthebuilder ooh i interpreted the question like: “what is least likely to happen” as in, what is something you cannot observe because it’s not going to happen. I feel like your interpretation is correct actually cuz there are questions like that in the Barrons. Oh well

@1618dz

When did you have to divide by 2 for that question?

Did it ask O2 or oxygens?! I put 4, but didn’t divide by 2 cause it probably asked for O2 or molecules of it! Oh no!!! I don’t want to fail!

Oh i see. It asked how many molecules were left. The correct answer was 2 moles O2 i think.

Damn it! I’m getting everything wrong! Chemistry is too hard for me! I’ll have to drop out of school and leave this world…I already got one wrong and I skipped 4! I probably got 3 of T/F section wrong as well because I’m an idiot. I was doing well in the Barrons, but I failed the real thing!

Dw dude you can always take it again. If you were doing well in the Barron’s, this was probably just a fluke. It shouldn’t be hard for you to ace it the next time around.

Taking the sat chemistry AGAIN will pose too many drawbacks: (1) I will have to study for one extra thing among all the SAT’s and ACT and PSAT and AP’s I’ll have to take next school year!!! (2) I might fail harder the next time around (3) I won’t get into a good college because I don’t have any extra curriculars or sports. All I have are test scores, which aren’t even good! Essentially, if I did bad on this, I’d have to end my life. The alternative solution to this problem would be to cancel my scores…my life is hell…

You don’t have to study much for SAT Chemistry if take AP Chemistry. I would suggest taking SAT Chemistry right after you finish AP Chemistry(So either May or June of next year). That’s what I did this year, and it seemed to work out well. After taking the AP course, this test only takes a week or two to study for, and chances are, you will have finished your SATs/ACTs by then too. This definitely isn’t the end of the world. I’m sure you did well anyways.

^:)^

Then maybe take SAT Physics at that time instead and don’t send in Chemistry. I know that some colleges require two SAT subject tests, so consider taking Math II as well if you haven’t already.

Bio: 750 (not going to get me anywhere). Math: 800 (Curve is too generous). Chemistry: (Not good)

Since you’re a sophomore, you still have a lot of time. Physics has a pretty generous curve as well(More than math II).
