SAT Subject Test for Chemistry... Should I take it?

Hey all,

I am an incoming HS junior. I took A.P. Chemistry my sophomore year and earned a B- for both semesters. It was a difficult class for me. My AP score was fortunately passing, a score of 3 earning college credit.
I had difficulties registering for the SAT Subject Test as my name was spelled wrong. Thus, I was unable to take the test around the time of my AP exams. My urgent question is: Should I do my best to take the SAT Subject Test for Chemistry in my Junior Year in months of October/November?
My dream is to attend UC Berkeley. Would taking SAT Chemistry help my college admissions? Even though I struggled in Chemistry, I up for the challenge to conquer the subject!

Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

It is hard to say. It depends on your intended major, your retention of memory, etc. But if you are talking other Subject test(s) anyway, you should add that too as it only costs like $12 more. Getting 800 in SAT2 Chem is more difficult than getting a 5 in AP Chem, but the test material for SAT2 is actually a lot easier. You may be able to score around 700 or higher if you prepare well enough. You should try some practice test and see how you do on that. Remember, most schools just require/recommend 2 SAT2 while a handful of schools want 3. You should pick the two SAT2 that you can do best for testing.

billscho: Thanks for the help! I will definitely take your wisdom to consideration. :)
