SAT Subject Test Math II really required??

I am pretty sure I will be majoring in either International Area Studies and/or History, so I was wondering if I should really take the Math II Subject Test. I took the Math I test and made a 570 (bad, I know), so I was wondering with a score like that, should I settle with being placed in the lowest Math course (predicting I will do even worse on the Math II, only without studying, but I will if I have to). Should I just take the math placement test at CTOPS, since I am not majoring in any sort of math or science?
I hope this makes some sense. :)

bump. why I am so impatient??? :)

"All students must take or receive credit for at least one Quantitative Reasoning (QR) course as part of their General Education requirements.

Many students arrive at UNC unsure of their majors, and others change their mind once they are here. Therefore, UNC strongly recommends that incoming students take the SAT Subject Test in Mathematics Level 1 or 2 to give them more flexibility in their choice of math (QR) classes.

Students who plan to major in business, the sciences, most health professions, and similar fields will be required to take specific mathematics, statistics, and/or other courses that require Math 110 as a prerequisite. UNC does not offer a Math 110 placement test on campus.

Students planning to take courses requiring Math 110 as a prerequisite (such as Math 130 or Chem 101) must take the SAT Subject Test Level 1 or 2. A score of 520 or higher will give Math 110 placement credit. A score lower than 520 will place the student into Math 110.

Students planning to take Math 231 as their first course must take the SAT Subject Test Level 2 (not 1) and score 600 or higher. A score lower than 600 on the SAT Subject Test Level 2 can be used for Math 110 or Math 130 placement, or Math 110 placement credit. Go to the Department of Mathematics’ website for placement details."

thank you- that was incredibly helpful (at least to me, not speaking for the OP here)

I hope this is isn’t random or off topic- but you do seem to know your stuff- if you already took the Math 2 SAT II (I took it way back spring junior year), do you need a paper copy? I know I didn’t order one, but I’m pretty sure I sent it to UNC along with my regular SAT, so is that enough?

I am just going to print off the scores from mySAT center thingy where they list all the scores from any SATs you have done. :)

I’m hoping that if you already sent them to UNC they’ll already have it in. I got an 800 on it but it was too alte to send for my EA decision, luckily I got in anyways, but I sent it in February and it actually showed up in my portal which was nice. So I’d have a paper copy but hopefully you won’t need it.

well, it says on the CTOPS site that you should bring all paper copies of any scores from any tests you’ve taken (AP, SAT, etc.), I would bring them just in case they can’t access the system to access your scores. :)
