SAT subject test math level 2 worth it?

According to the recommendations for fall 2018 applicants (specifically for UCSD)
“Jacobs School of Engineering and biological or physical sciences majors: Math Level 2 and a science test (Biology E/M, Chemistry, or Physics) closely related to the applicant’s intended major.”

I am planning to apply for both majors, Biochemistry and Biological Science, since these are competitive majors they recommend I take Math Level 2 and in this case, chemistry as well. My question: is it worth it to take the Math Level 2 subject test if I received a 24 subscore on the math portion of the ACT; especially, even if I’m still in pre-calc honors? I’m quite nervous to take it in November since I don’t have a strong background in math.

Although SAT subject tests are only recommended, I am sure that many of the applicants to UCSD will have taken the Math 2 subject test. You will not be penalized for not taking the test, but it can definitely help if you score well on the exam.
An ACT Math sub score of 24 will definitely hurt your chances, so doing well on the subject test could make UCSD consider the ACT as a fluke.
