SAT Subject Test requirement Q's

I'm a sophomore and just took the SAT II World History--> got a 690. :/
I know that Cal requires two SAT Subject tests, but will the new Score Choice policy be accepted by Berkeley? Let's say I decided to retake the test and achieve an 800... is it possible that my previous 690 won't be disclosed to the adcoms?

On a related note, should I actually retake this 690 if I'm an in-state planning to apply to College of L & S with a prospective major of poli scy/econ? I know that most selective colleges appreciate a 700+ if not something in the high 700s. Even though I'm strong in the humanities, this score was expected because of a family tragedy that occured the same week. sigh

Any input will be appreciated!

I don't know why you're so worried, your score's actually pretty good. Plus, you're a sophomore, so you still have time to take other SAT tests.. I think it would be safe to take a test in another subject you think you might do well in just in case they don't adopt the new policy. And seriously, don't worry about it if you're instate, i got lower scores in SAT subject tests but had other good parts to make up for it, and i still got into both UCB and UCLA.. so yeah - good luck!

concur with sn; 690 is a fine score. Take additional subject tests next year in conjuction with any AP courses.

a 650 isnt though!
esp for physics. which is what i just found out i got. its definately a result of the fact that my physics track had not yet covered modern physics or finished optics.

still, 1.5 years of physics and a 650 on that test is downright pathetic.
