As you guys know, UC requires their applicants to take two SAT II tests. I took the tests in November and got the following scores.

Math IIC: 750
Physics: 690
US History: 690

Now they say that you have to have the tests in from December 2010 "or else your application will be in jeopardy."

Now lets be honest. Those SAT II scores suck. And there is no way Im getting into UCB/UCLA with them (out-of-state applicant, 33 ACT, 3.58 UW/ 4.5 W, 10 AP classes, 13 honors classes, 9 non-honors classes)

Now the main reason I didnt do so good on the physics exam was because I hadnt taken it yet (lawl. in hindsight...) But now that I've taken it I know I can get at least a 750 on physics and a 780 on Math II

So my question is should I send in the 750/690, get a better score in January, and then send in those scores hoping they will take them? Or should I just hold off and send the 780/750?

Obviously the followup question would be "Will UC take my better scores from January?"

You must send exisitng scores immediately. They want all scores in their hands by mid-January. December was the last accepted test. You can do what you want with January and send those scores and maybe they will look at them (although likely not) but if you fail to send SAT II scores now, you face rejection due to having an incomplete file.

if you care, i emailed an admissions representative and he said that if i sent in my january test scores, they would consider any improvement from previous scores if it would push me into acceptance.

^ Who did you email? I am in a similar predicament. I took Math 2 and physics this January. I had all my other scores sent in. 640 math 2 and 620 physics as well as 2100 SAT. I can tell they received my scores because they put me in augmented review. I feel that my math 2 might very well be an 800 and my physics might be around there.

UCs require all scores but nothing above is talking about score choice. UCs say the last scores accepted are Dec tests. Moreover, once you have sent enough scores to meet all requirements you are not then required to send any future scores that don’t come out until after you made that initial send. Thus, sending Jan tests is not really an all scores issue as it is whether it means anything at all if you send them. As with many colleges, if you in fact comply with the application rules and get everything required sent including two SAT II scores by the applicable deadlines, you can then send additonal scores thereafter, including Jan test scores, and they may be considered if they arrive before a decision on you has been made.
