SAT/Subject Tests in June?

I am having a bit of a hard time deciding what to test in next month. I took the May SAT I and am waiting to hear back results, although I am fairly confident I did well, feeling around a low to mid 2100 as thats what I’ve usually been getting and I feel good about the test. However, I am unsure whether to take Subject Tests next month or just retake the SAT.

I was planning on taking Literature, US, and Math 1 (I’m only in Algebra II/Trig and aren’t a super strong Math student, I know it isn’t weighed highly by colleges but I’m not applying to anything that would require Math II). I score very well in CR and am confident in my abilities for Literature and definitely feel I could handle Math 1. US is iffy because I haven’t had a great teacher for APUSH but I figure I will end up learning most of it while I study for the AP test (late testing) and by June 6th I’d know it well enough to get a decent score.

On the other hand, I could retake the SAT next month and take subject tests in October. I need all of my testing done by October, and while my ultimate goal is to do well on the ACT and not submit the SAT/Subject Tests, I need a backup regardless. I would have more time to study for October subject tests and possibly take Math II, but I also won’t know where I did poorly on my original SAT until less than two weeks before the June date if I was to take the SAT I.

Planning on June/September ACT as well, would be spending this month prepping mostly for the ACT but if I take SAT too, I would work on that as well.

If anyone has any advice, it would be greatly appreciated!

regular deadline pasted for June SAT? What did you pick?

I’m registering late regardless. @gebo342

Do June Subject Tests and June ACT. There’s not much to study for SAT Lit and SAT US, especially if you took AP Lang and APUSH this year. Taking those tests in October would mean the knowledge isn’t fresh in your mind. Forget the SAT 1 for now. Just try and do well on the June ACT. Depending on how you do on June ACT, you can decide in late June if you want to retake ACT, retake SAT, or retake neither. I don’t anticipate you would need (or want) to retake the subject tests.

@gebo342 I’m also worried about subject tests. My APUSH teacher said the other day that colleges REQUIRE 3 subject tests. I pretty much brushed him off and found online that most colleges don’t require them, and the ones that do are highly competitive (I’m applying to schools like Florida State, Ohio State, Penn State, Albany, etc.). However, I’m wondering if I should take the US one, just to have. I already have two, Bio (600) and Chem (590) and was planning on at least submitting Bio, if not both. Should I go for US? What happens if I don’t?

As far as I know, the only college that requires 3 SAT subject tests is Georgetown. All others require 2 at the most and the vast majority of schools don’t require them at all. Here is a pretty accurate list of the schools that require or recommend them. http://www.■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■/subject-test-requirements-and-recommendations/
