So I took the May SAT reasoning test and I think I did pretty poorly. I reviewed for the test for about 5 weeks, but I messed up the math part because I was so nervous and because of time constraints. I took the SAT I in January and got a 2050, and am now aiming for a 2200. I think I got ~2100 this time but I really need a 2200. I'm signed up for the June SAT subject tests in Lit and Math I. However, I haven't started studying yet. Should I just use the time to continue to study for the reasoning test or take the subject tests? I think I'll do fine in Math I, but I havent started for Lit. Any advice? Have any of you guys taken both May and June or would you suggest waiting for my scores and taking it in October? I really feel like I could have got those math questions had I managed my time carefully. Any insight would be awesome. Thanks!

Please help…

Take your subject tests (they will be easier to take as you finish the school year then after summer vacation). If you truly hate your May score study over the summer and take it in the fall.

Take the subject tests, but change from Math I to Math II (unless you’re paralyzed with fear at the sight of a math exercise and don’t expect to study it in college at all). Subject tests should be taken as close as possible to the moment you took the class, ie, Spring of your Sophomore or junior year. In addition, don’t you have another subject you can take? Some colleges require 3 (typically 1 math or science, 1 Humanities, one your choice) and for the colleges that only require 2, you can write down the scores for your 2 best subjects.
You can take the SAT Reasoning in the Fall, no problem.

I don’t have any classes for Math I and Literature, so that’s not really a problem. I won’t be able to handle Math II either as math is really my weak point. I’m going to be a senior next year so I really want to finish my reasoning tests ASAP. I already have 1 subject test finished in history so that’s fine. I’m just afraid of pushing myself too much by taking both May and June SATs. So you guys think I should really wait?

Wait. You may not realize it but English is prepping you for lit (especially if you are in AP lang), also if you are in the appropriate math take Math II anyway, it has a very generous curve.
