I got an 800 on USH, 760 on Math 2, and 730 on Physics this past May. If I'm applying HYPSM, are these acceptable? I guess the main question is, should I retake to improve? Is a 730 (or 760) seen the same as an 800? Would there be any benefit to improving the scores? Thanks

There would be no benefit, IMO. You have demonstrated that you are a superior test taker. Those are great scores. Your acceptance or rejection by any of the HYPSM schools will depend on other things like your grades, essays, recs and ECs.

@doubtful that’s what I was thinking…I hear that after like 700 or 750, scores are pretty much the same. As long as you get to, like, 700, the scores won’t hurt or help all that much. Thanks!

I would retake the Physics but NOT retake the Math. For MIT, 750 on these tests is more common. You don’t want to look test obsessive. But if you think that you really fell short of what you think that you can do, I think it’s ok to retake the physics. The fact of not retaking the Math demonstrates that you’re not out for trophies, but genuinely were disappointed in just your physics score.

Make sure it doesn’t go down.

Lol thanks @classicrockerdad I hope it doesn’t go down
