SAT Subject Tests

Hey I'm planning to do the SAT Subjects Tests in October and was wanting to hear some opinions :

For the SAT Physics Subject Tests, would it be fine if I only took Physics in Sec School but did not touch it in JC(Did Bio)? Havent touched Physics for a total of 3 years. Probably would have to learn some A Level stuff but do you think it would be possible to do reasonably well(750+) with a limited background? BTW what are the god resources for someone who needs brushing up on Physics? Princeton Review? McGraw? Does anyone suggest a good prep book/resource I could use for study?

I have already decided on taking Math II as well as was checking what prep books most people used. The general consensus seems to be Barrons is the best book. Can anyone attest to this?

Thanks

Heys, SAT physics is mostly conceptual, so you dont really need indepth understanding of all the topics taught in the Alevels…that said, the breadth of topics is pretty large so you do have a bit to catch up on. Dont worry though, the questions tend to repeat themselves so just keep doing the practice papers and you’ll do just fine.

Barron’s is definitely very useful to prepare for the craziest of questions that appear in the SAT (though very rarely). I’d still say you go ahead with Barron’s.

All the best!

just for the sake of others reading this thread, ill post the websites ive told rose. sparknotes.com has a series of tutorials for most subject tests. xtremepapers has practice tests for physics and math 2, among others. I used these 2 over the period of a week before taking the tests and got 800 for physics and 760 for math 2. Which is not too shabby considering I was outfield (was in the army at the time, ord lo!) for most of the week and had 3h of sleep before the papers…this is of course a last ditch effort for those who dont have the time/money to buy or borrow the books!
