there has probably been alot of threads on this but w.e. Im planning to take the Physics subject test in october or november whichever i feel better prepared for and i have the Barrons test book. Its just a matter of time and studying for me now. However, Physics is not an easy subject and i just wanted tips or "word to the wise" about this test, ESPECIALLY for those of you who have gotten mid to high 700s on this test. These are basically my backups since my SAT score sucked so help me out! lol

Barrons physics isn’t really recommended for SAT Physics. They cover a lot of useless facts in detail and important facts, they barely cover at all.

Which books would you recommend then?^

I believe Princeton Review is the general consensus for best book for SAT II Physics.

Definitely get the PR book. I’m like halfway done with it and I feel SO much more comfortable with the subject (I didn’t take AP phys last year)

@Dramamine When did you start going through the book? My copy is scheduled to arrive on Saturday and I’m taking the test on October 1…

^umm i pretty much started in the beginning of August, and I’d do 10 pages a day/whenever I felt like it because I was still on vacation and didn’t want to do schoolwork. Now though I’m pretty much doing a chapter per day, and I feel pretty comfortable with it. How much time you spend on it depends on how well you were taught in your actual course.

And for the record, I think there are 16 chapters, so maybe try one per day, and then do the practice tests? I’m either taking the test in october or november, not sure yet though.

I bought the barrons and I have studied each topic in less than a week. Today I did the diagnostic test, while I was lying on the bed, and I got 700. I did a few stupid mistakes. I am gonna take the test in October and I think I can score 800.
I was thinking about getting another book, I noticed that the barrons describes useless things…

^ if you’re scoring 700 on barron’s I don’t really think you need to worry. Try taking a sparknotes practice test, and if money isn’t a big deal to you, try the PR book I guess. I’d think you’re fine though with just barron’s + sparknotes

Is the “average raw score” always the same? I found a table to score my SAT 2 in Physics on sparknotes, I was wondering If It was constant…or if it depended on the test.
