What’s the role of SAT Subject Tests in College Application?
For the majority of colleges, none, since they do not require, recommend or consider subject tests for admission. For colleges that require two subject tests for admission (about 25) which are generally high ranked colleges, they are an important factor considered in the making the admission decision. For other colleges that recommend but do not require subject tests, they can also be important, although most of those colleges claim they consider them only if they may help you in making the admission decision but not otherwise. For another 40 or more colleges that neither require nor recommend subject tests but will consider them if sent, they are less important but again may help you somewhat if they are good. Go here for a good list (although I believe not quite complete for the recommended or considered groups) of colleges that require, recommend, or consider subject tests for admission: http://www.■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■/subject-test-requirements-and-recommendations/
Note, there are also colleges, many included in the list on the site, but a number not included, that will use some subject test scores, such as in math, science, or language subject tests, after you are admitted to determine placement in the college course you should begin with, and some even provide college credit for high scores in certain tests.
Really good answer,really useful!Thanks!!
