sat subject tests?

Hi all, so I was planning on taking a few sat subject tests this year and I was just wondering, will low scores affect admission to top schools like Stanford, UC’s, MIT, UMich, etc? If I take the math level 2 test in august, and I don’t score as well as i’d like to, would taking it multiple times affect my chances? Do these schools usually superscore the subjects tests, and will I have to report all of my sat subject test scores? Thanks!

I can only tell you the UC policies for SAT subject tests. Since subject tests are “recommended” and not required, they can help your application if you do well.

However, to be a competitive applicant for the top UC’s, they are important to take and get that competitive score.

There are recommendations on the UC website by campus and majors of which Subject tests are preferred.

UC’s do not superscore and you can use score choice when submitting the Subject test scores.

Well, for MIT, 75% of accepted applicants will have a 780+ in Math 2. Stanford’s applicant’s will be slightly lower. While Subject Tests at these scores are just one part of the application, you would need something exceptional in another part of the application, IMO, if your scores are subpar.

No, but really, don’t think negatively until you actually get your scores.

Almost all colleges (Cornell and Georgetown are 2 notable exceptions) do not require you to send in all Subject Test scores. None of the schools you have listed require all Subject Test scores, so you can send what you’d like. For other schools on your list, check the policies for those schools.

Ok great, thank you guys! I looked on each individual school’s website, but the wording is sometimes ambiguous, so any clarification is appreciated.
