sat subject tests

is dartmouth big on sat subject tests?
i have a 2300 on my sats and a 3.6 gpa
i have decent/great extra currics
but for sat subject tests i only have a 800 in math level 2 and 600 in us history
im taking the act in december..
i missed the deadline for december sat subject tests :(
i heard that they use your sat subject tests for regular decision
do i have a decent chance at dartmouth?

I don't think the ACT will add much of anything to your application.

On the SATIIs, can you go "stand-by" for the SATIIs in December? If you can, I suggest taking 2 or 3 tests other than History, where you believe you are strong. Dartmouth will consider the top scores on any two of your SATIIs.

If you don't take them again, I wouldn't be overly concerned, especially if you've done well in your History classes. I doubt you'll get screened out soley on the basis of one score alone.

Whoah, BalletGirl, two or three SAT IIs?

thesparetire, you've gotten an 800 on Math Level 2/C. That's great. Why don't you take a science and try to get a 700 or higher on it? Physics might be a decent one to take, given that it's curve is just as lenient as the Math 2/C curve. Also consider chemistry. It's definitely not that hard of a test, but be careful. Do not take biology, though. It is the hardest SAT II, probably after Literature.

standby? is that done often? how do i sign up? and why 2 tests? can i not take just sat lit? i have heard how hard sat lit is..but i dont have confidence doing something like chem right now because i havent done chem since sophomore year..since i scored a 750 on the sat verbal i thought i would do well on the sat subject lit but i did two practice tests a few days ago and scored 690 and 700 on both i guess ill just have to practice more.
and which test center do i stand by at? how do i know which test center has a better chance of admitting me(having room?)? i would be devastated if i studied really hard and then i was not able to take the exam

thesparetire,

check this out:
