My son has taken the SAT three times. First 1280, 650 eng, 630 math. Second 1270, 650 eng, 620 math. Third 1270, 590 eng and 680 math. Happy that he finally got improvement in math but disappointed that English dropped. All of his schools superscore so he has a 1330. But schools will see the 590. Will that hurt him?
From College Board:
“Colleges that superscore the SAT use your best section-level scores, even if they were from different tests. Many colleges that follow a superscore policy encourage students to submit all test scores, and some require it. This allows them to see and consider the highest section scores consistently and fairly across all applicants.”
They’ll see the 650 and 680 and that he reached those levels.
No, they’ll just mark him as 1330 and move on.
A true outlier, like 650 on one test and 410, 420 on two others might raise some concern. Those scores won’t.
Thanks!
