Hi guys, I just did my subject tests and I'm not sure if I should file a complaint about the test center..

The proctors did not read ANY instruction at all. They gave us the answer sheet to fill out by ourselves, and never took the time to make sure if everyone has done it fully and correctly. The proctors never really stayed inside the room, and one of them just popped in (with half of his body still out of the door) to say "you can start." I was shocked that they took the process so casually. I have done a few SATs so I'm rather familiar with the process, but I still feel that my performance was affected by the lack of instruction and clear timing, and I can't imagine if someone was taking SAT for the first time in that situation.

Is the problem serious enough to file a complaint? Would it make any difference? I don't really want to have my scores cancelled...

Sounds like people will eventually start taking advantage of the poor supervision rather than failing because of it. I did the SAT I for the first time today and I thought our supervision was lacking in quality. He sat and read a book and couldn’t see if I (who were sitting in the back row) started on the next section too early. I didn’t though :P

I think it’s a good thing to report it, if you are up to it!

I believe that if the collegeboard investigates it and decides it’s an issue, they will make/allow everyone in the room to retake the test. The retake will be on a different Saturday than the Dec. test, and probably before it, so you can do the retake and the Dec test as well. You will only be able to see those new scores from the retake, and only those new scores can be reported to colleges. You can also opt not to do the retake; however, your scores will be canceled from Nov.

I was surprised at how strict our SAT administration was. I think it was the first time they offered it at my high school, and they had multiple classrooms with 15 people each and two proctors. They checked our IDs again after each break. A few people were forced to erase answers after time had been called and one person was removed from the room for advancing to the next section.

If you feel that you may have been negatively affected by the proctors’ nonprofessional attitude, by all means, do it.

Seeing how bad it was, I suggest you do. A couple other people in your room may have considered it, and maybe others took advantage of this and cheated.
