So I took the SAT today and was debating on if I should report a Test Center Complaint. During the SAT Reading Portion, an alarm went off. After it continued to go off for 5 minutes our proctor dismissed us outside. We were standing outside for roughly 10 minutes as the alarm continued to go off. Once the alarm was turned off we were sent back into the classrooms to finish the SAT. Once back inside, however, our proctor told us that we were going to resume as if nothing had happened and did not accommodate and give us an extra 10 minutes since we had been standing outside for 10 minutes. This was an unfair choice being we not only lost our time for the section but also our focus from the alarm happening. After the test was over I talked to people from other rooms and found out that their proctors had accommodated for the time they lost. I am not sure what can be done about this but I am a senior in high school and can’t afford to take the SAT again as my college applications are due by the end of November.
Besides the mess up in the reading section which threw me off leading me to miss a whole passage in the reading section so I had to just fill c’s in for them which never happens the rest of the SAT went really well and the math was one of the easiest’s so I am scared if I report it I’ll have to retake it and it won’t go well but I also know that these testing conditions weren’t fair.
I also don’t have time to take it again because my college apps are due at the end of November.
Any ideas on what I should do?
You definitely need to report this. (But Are you absolutely sure the time was not added back?) You should also register for the Dec date and perhaps ask for a fee waiver for that one. Dec scores are okay for most RD.
