Test Center Complaint (Please read)

So today 3rd, December was the worst experience of mine with college board. I appeared for SAT Subject test in Physics, Chemistry and Maths level II. There was a this huge hall and they had only one Digital Clock on the front wall. Luckily i was sitting in the front of the 2nd last row so i could clearly see the clock. But this luck soon turned out the opposite, As the test started i decided to start with Physics first. After 10 mins i decided to look at the clock to check the time and it wasn't there. :O

I asked the invigilator and he said it had some malfunction and they had to remove it but it'll be back no later then 10-20 mins. I was like *** since i didn't have a watch with me. Most of the kids started complaining aswell. Anyways we carried on in hope that the clock would be back but they didn't bring it back. The invigilator sometimes did announce the time after 20 mins intervals but sometimes didn't aswell. I had no track of time since they didn't announce the last 20 mins. I had 15 Mcq's left and the invigilator announced "5 minutes remaining", i was under immense pressure and had to rush the last 15 Mcq's from which i couldn't even go through 5, had to leave them blank and the others well i kind of just like guessed.

In the next two tests they didn't get the clock back either and i had to carry on doing the test by asking the invigilator the time after every 5-10 mins, this did create alot of difficulty but thankfully i did chemistry quite well but Maths wasn't that good.

Anyways i mailed my complaint to college board right after i got back from the test center. So what i would like to know is that would they consider this complaint and in what way would they able to help me out? Would they ask me for a retake of all 3 subjects or anyone of my choice since i do not want to retake chemistry or would they refund me one of my test subject fee (most likely physics) or what else would they do?

Are they compelled to have a clock? I don’t think so. I doubt they will let you retake on that basis. You should have an internal clock when taking these takes, and you are allowed to bring your own clock. It’s not like you got less time–you just didn’t know how much time you had at any given moment. I think you had a very bad experience and you have the right to be upset, but I just don’t see CollegeBoard sanctioning a re-take for something like that.

But isn’t a clock necessary for any testing hall. I have appeared in olevels, alevels, College entry tests and have never experienced a hall without a clock and almost all of them have more then one atleast.

Actually this is the second time i’m giving the SAT subject test, last time gave it in June and it was very well managed, They had 2-3 clocks in the hall and the invigilator kept on announcing the time after every 20 mins interval even the clock being present, sadly today they failed to do both of the tasks rightly.

u should have a watch with you when you go for these tests

I took ACTs and SATs, and sometimes I had a clock, and sometimes I did not. On the admissions ticket, I believe, it says that a clock may or may not be present. That’s why they let you bring your own.

Damn. Gotta retake it again then. :/

Well, you had to retake regardless of what they would have done (more than likely nothing), what did you expect to happen? For them to give you a bonus 100 points for the heck of it?
