SAT vs. ACT

I hadn't planned on ever taking the ACT, so I did not study it. But now my school is requiring the MME, so I took a practice test and I'm scoring way lower on the ACT than SAT. SInce I have the MME in about 2 weeks, does anyone have advice on the ACT studying in contrast to SAT. Are there different subjects/tricks to it?

well for me i did a lot better on the ACT than the SAT. i took it 3 times and got the same score even though i didn't study the first time and then studied really hard the other 2, my individual scores went up and down though. my biggest advice is to not actually read the reading and science sections like you normally would. the time for the ACT is really crunched so its best to read the questions and skim through the data/material. thats what did it for me and science was my best section...good luck

I did way better on the ACT than the SAT, and I studied hard for the SAT but not the ACT. I don't think that you can really study for the ACT that much, because the questions are more straightforward and basic than those on the SAT, which try to trick you. But time management on the ACT's really important. Don't even bother reading full passages in the reading and science sections, just read the questions and find the answers. And guess on EVERY question, even though you don't know it, on the ACT there's no penalty for guessing. Just start filling in random circles if you really are short on time. Hope this helps and best of luck!
