Sat vs. Act

Ok so i am a senior and i have not taken an SAT, my guidance counselor says that colleges most generally look at the ACT... i am kinda thinkin she is wrong because every application has a space to put an SAT score... should i take one anyway or just go with the ACT?

Take both.

I found the SAT to be harder, but I ended up doing a lot better on it.

She’s wrong. They consider both equally. Some people do better on the ACT than on the SAT and for others it is the other way around. It doesn’t matter which you take, but if you take both you should sent whichever you do better on.

Admissions at Stanford recommends SAT (no more than two or three times). They take superscore (ie best of each test and combine). If you do not do well on SAT, take ACT with writing.
She said it is a fallacy that they don’t know if you took the test and did poorly. While you may not have SAT report it, it is on your high school transcripts that are sent them.

Also must take several of the SAT subject tests

the harder, the better
