SAT World History-International-June 2013

Maybe it was a practice test then, but I had Incas on my mind for some reason.

Oh, there was a mercantalism question.

Mercantalism: Colonies should be a source of raw materials (not sure about the wording, but it was something like that)

EDIT: Another one

Byzantine Empire: The Eastern part of the Roman Empire after the 5th or 6th century AD

Why can’t I edit anymore?

I remember that there was a question where we had to attribute a saying to someone. One of the wrong choices was follow the eightfold path to Nirvana.

A saying about what?

I can’t remember, but I remember them giving us a name and telling us to identify a saying that went with it.

I really feel like we’re missing out on something.

I’m not sure if it was diocletian, constantine, ww1 or something

Oh wait I remember this: Why did poland ally with Britain? Was it to prevent invasion from Russia and Germany?

@Gloogle Diocletian to Odacer was an option for the Byzantine empire question

And The question was why did Poland ally themselves with France (They only allied with britain 3 weeks before Germany invaded) and it was the prevent German and Soviet invasion.

EDIT: And I just remembered another question! What was the point of the Berlin Conference? To draw up rules for the colonisation of Africa

Ok so:

Mercantilism: Source of raw materials + market for finished goods

Byzantine Empire (I still don’t get the question…): Diocletian?

Poland alliance: To prevent a Russian/German Invasion

@Harrovian Yeah Berlin conference was for africa!

86!

@Gloogle thanks. I was 95% certain it was Africa but not 100%.

And 84. Was specifically, what was the Byzantine empire. And the answer was the Eastern part of the Roman Empire after the 4th or 5th century AD.

Diocletian to Odacer was one of the wrong choices.

Ok, I get it now.

Now for 87…

I think I’ve clinched an 800 at this point. With 86 questions in I have a raw score of 84-87. Even taking a harsher curve of 78 for an 800, I’ll still need to get half or more of the remaining questions wrong to drop below an 800.

I think I remember something about the ff being on the test too. Please confirm:

Spread of Islam to southeast & south Asia

Something about medieval japan

How africa was divided arbitrarily by the colonial powers

Which country gave stuff & education to explorers: portugal

Something about an invention?

Etruscan influence in Italy?

I’m just taking these straight out of my thoughts, so don’t be surprised if some weren’t in the test at all.

@harrovian, worst case scenario for me, if the curve was harsh, and I get only 2 from the next 9, I’d still have a 690, given a harsh curve and that I get all the debatable ones wrong, so I guess a 700 likely to happen

Why would they give a HARSHER curve this year? The test this year was supposedly much more difficult than previous years, and it seems like a lot of people struggled. I guess hypothetically, if they decide to implement a harsh curve, but I doubt it. They’ll probably also throw out a question or two.

What does ff stand for?

I’m not sure. That sounds vaguely familiar, but I really don’t know

I’m not sure, but probably not on the test

BB Test, I’m fairly sure

Definitely not on the test.

Maybe the movable type press?

BB test 2 question 20

I assumed it was a harsh curve so I wouldn’t get my hopes up too much. It makes me much happier/less disappointed with whatever score I receive.

But how do you tell if they will give a more lenient curve? I mean how do we know that the tests this year were harder than the previous ones?

ff means following.

dammit, i’ve really run dry on the questions now

There seems to be a lot more people complaining about it. And I can honestly say that this is the hardest WH test I’ve ever done, so I’d assume that it’s a more lenient curve.

Which class dominated China? → Scholars
