Was that on the actual test? I remember it being on one of the bb tests, but I swear it wasn’t on the actual test.

@andros12 do you remember what the other choices were?

@Harrovian You’ve had one before? Did you find this test particularly detail-oriented or ambiguous than usual?

I remember it being on the test, but I could be mixing stuff up, and wasn’t there some question relating to an image with the Safavid and the Mughal ruler, and it asked what it showed about their relation? Do we have an answer for that one?

@Gloogle. I’ve never taken the WH SAT before. I’ve taken the practice tests in Kaplan, Barrons, Princeton, and the two in the bb. But, with that being said, today’s was by far the most complex and detail-oriented and nitpicky of any of the other SATs I’ve taken.

@Gloogle The other options were things like warriors, nobles, etc

@andros yes. We have an answer for that. It was a show of Mughal superiority because the Mughal king was standing on a lion and shah Abbas was standing on a lamb.

@andros12 I’m not too sure regarding that question, but for the safavid-mughal thing, check out #56 on the previous pages

@Harrovian ayt then. Tougher than Barron’s huh? I heard they’re pretty tough so this one must be quite difficult.

It wasn’t spreading their influence all over asia? Becuase it showed both of them in a friendly way, and then there was a sort of globe behind them and two creatures on either side of them blowing outwards as if blowing out their influence?

@andros12 nah; the picture clearly shows that the mughals were superior in the relationship, as harrovian said. The details clearly point to it.

@andros I don’t remember that.

But, there are two questions on the bb that are very similar to that, both from test 1

Which of the following describes the primary role of the scholar-gentry in imperial China?
a) Mainstay of the imperial bureaucracy
b) development of political revolution
c) Education of the peasants
d) Dissemination of European culture
e) Advancement of engineering and agricultural science

In the Hindu caste system, members of the Brahman caste originally served as
a) priests
b) farmers
c) warriors
d) merchants
e) herders

I know that a lot of people found the test to be rather difficult, and given the fact that it is (probably) a newer version, the curve will hopefully be more lenient this year. With a curve of 78 = 800, I am right at the border of a 790 and an 800, so I’m hoping CB is nice this year :)

This thread has been so helpful. It takes away a little of the anxiety, so thank you guys!

I’m thinking the curve will be around the second test in the bb if not a little bit more leniet actually. I thought the 2002 test wasn’t actually too difficult, though much more difficult than test 1.

Wasn’t there a question about the “mcdonaldization” of culture. There was one asking who opposed that, which we’ve already discussed, but I think another also asked what that was talking about and I believe the answer was something like globalization of culture, but not quite sure what the question was, just trying to get the idea out

I don’t know if there are two versions, but I’m thinking it could be for some tests.

And yeah, there was a mcdonaldisation of culture question, it was paired with the Afghanistan question. Is it not on the list?

And i find it kinda ironic that one of the least attended SAT subjects has the longest thread.

@andros no prob. I believe you’re referring to the same question there, and the answer is Afghanistan

Really hoping the curve will be good in this test

@Harrovian maybe because we’re a bit nerdy and because we can remember the details/questions better?

And what was the mcdonaldisation question? we don’t have it on the list…

@Gloogle. Yeah probably, I can have my nerd moments. I probably would do better if I tried more, lol.

It was the question before the Afghanistan question. It gave us a quote by the minister of culture of iran in 1990s. He talked how he had to fight the british/american puppet regime in his day, and that the current generation has to fight the spice girls, macdonalds, and other things. The question asked, this quote raised the concern of what? The answer to that was globalisation. Then the Afghanistan question asked what regime that arose in the late 1990s was dedicated to combating the aformentioned concern.

And the SAT website is quite quick in updating. I just logged on to order my QAS and they’ve already started the countdown until the scores are released. 18 days. :(

Alright, I missed that, so were at 87 now. Another one in the bag!

@Harrovian
Regarding mercantilism, I remember puttin something about restricting imports. Was it one of the choices? I cant remember.
