I was really disappointed with my writing score but I’m glad I’m not the only one suffering from a *** moment.
I got a 690 (67/10).
I’ve never gotten below 700 on the writing section before on practice tests, and I was pretty sure that I’d only gotten maximum 2 wrong…
Unless I was high or drunk, going from 1-3 wrong to 10 wrong seems impossible…

Yeah, right. In 2005-2006, it took CB from October until March to publicly acknowledge their massive screw up. But this time around, if you send a bunch of messages, they’re just going to do the right thing?

Keep in mind that the last thing CB wants to do is acknowledge another scoring issue. And it’s to their advantage (financially and otherwise) to delay things while they charge each of you $55 to $110 to rescore your tests.

Wait until Tuesday. Check the essay when it posts - see if it’s yours. Look at the detailed score report . . . look for anything that’s more than a minor deviation. And if your only complaint is not doing as well as you expected, or not doing as well as you did on a practice test, then suck it up . . . at least for the time being. (Sorry!) Post here again only if you’re SURE something’s wrong.

Same as meburi. :P

Is the score report going to tell us WHICH problems we got wrong – and what the correct answer was?

What does it tell us?

Just to make sure, here’s a little survey:

Did you put “that of the opposite direction” instead of “that extended in traveling in the opposite direction”? If so, you missed a question.

Did you put more than or less than two no-errors on the error identification section? If so, you missed one or more questions.

Did you put “these devices” instead of “Carrier’s device”? If so, you missed another question.

Did you put anything other than “that we not” on the last writing question (about not littering)? If so, you missed another question.

While some of you may be experiencing legitimate score problems, others may just have not performed as well on this test.

You guys should seriously just wait until you get a full report of your score. My score, was generally what I pretty much expected, although I was also shocked at my partially low essay score, when i thought I wrote a pretty critical essay. Idk lol whatevs retaking

@StudiousMaximus

1.) “that extended…blah blah”
2.) I think I had two or three…
3.) “Carrier’s device”
4.) “that we not”. I remember pondering that one for a bit and then realizing the alternative was passive.

Somehow, I can’t see that adding up to a 69MC…Just waiting until Tuesday for more detailed report before doing anything drastic. Thanks for pointing these out though :)

I already knew I got the “that we not” and “that extended” questions wrong, so I was guessing I got 4-5 questions wrong… not 12+ wrong. I did get the Carrier’s device question right and I also had about 2 no errors (I can’t remember the exact number anymore). Maybe I did mess up more than I thought, but I got the same multiple choice score as I did on the last SAT when I didn’t study at all. This time, I took almost 10 practice tests before taking the actual one. :(

For me, my Math and CR were about right.

yeah same. writing was just absurd. mc was 59. wat. i usually only miss a maximum of 9, and that’s when i don’t have time to double check. However, i was able to double check my answers for the writing section on the october sats… after tuesday, when the detailed score reports come out, i’m probably gonna order the verification thing. How long does it take for your mc score to be rescored after ordering it?

How does the detailed score report work? Do they tell you what the right answer is and what you put or they only tell you what wrong ones you get? It takes about 5 to 8 weeks to get your results after you order a rescore.

Rescore is only 3-5 weeks, actually. The score report that comes out on the 30th only says the number of questions you got wrong and omitted, what type of questions they were (i.e. grid-ins, sentence completion, etc.), and you can also see your essay. If you’re asking about the Q&A score service for $50, that includes the answer booklet, the questions, and the correct answers. I forget if it tells you what you put down. The Q&A service takes about 8 weeks.

^ QAS indeed shows the answers you put on test day.

I’m on the same boat as you guys…I really can’t believe that these were my scores after studying all summer.

I got a 1910:
CR: 630
W: 630 (My BEST section, always scored 700+)
M: 650 (Usually score 700+)

What do we do now? My parents don’t believe me…

Not quite. It shows what their scoring machine thinks your answers were. If you want to see a copy of your actual answer sheet, that’s extra . . . and it can’t be ordered until after you’ve received the rest of the QAS packet.

^ Yes, I meant that it’s supposed to show the answers you put–and it does the vast majority of the time. But if the CB made an error, an observant student will see that his/her answers are misrepresented on the report.

Got low scores, even though I did really good in Writing and Readinng. Essay expected 12 but got 8. I cant believe this. I was expecing 800 in writing and got 670. CR last time I got 740 and 640 this time, where I was expecting 760.

I’m not sure about the writing section (since I had a writing experimental and I’m not sure which one counted) but CR and math definitely seem fishy to me.

I compared all my math scores with the CC scores and all my answers were correct except for one of the questions that was being highly debated. So I expected to get either an 800 or a 770, but imagine my surprise when collegeboard lists my score as a 680. Especially considering the fact that I got a 770 last November and a 760 in June. And when I took the SAT back in June 2009 when I was in the 8th grade, I still managed a 720.

I was unsure about ~3 questions in the CR section that were being debated, and I only ended up with a 740.

But since college applications are right around the corner, I’m worried that even if I order the QAS, it won’t arrive until early December, and if I have to hand score my test by then, college apps are due Jan 1st, which won’t be enough time.

I’ll say I was disappointed by my writing score (750) and math score (740), but after seeing that I got an essay score of 11 and CR of 800, I highly doubt that my essay was scored wrong. Most likely the writing section was just harder than usual - and I’ll admit the fact that my order of test sections was essay, writing (experimental), writing… so that threw me off quite a bit.

What would a scaled score of 67 for grammar be? How many questions wrong with no blanks? I got an 11 on the essay, and usually only get ~2 questions wrong on the MC. But this unusual grammar score brought me down to a 720 :(

I remember on my first SAT when I got my QAS to find out what were the 2 questions I got wrong that kept me from an 800 on the SAT in Math, it showed me that the answer I put for one of the grid-in was 513 when the correct answer was 5/3. I personally don’t feel I am one to make such a bubbling error but that’s what the machine recorded. Point is that I think the machine can at times have a scanning error.
