Hi, for the writing subtest on the SAT.
My Essay was 7/12.
My Correct answers were 38
My incorrect Answers were 9
Omitted 2.
I received a horrendous 570, is that score correct?
If so please explain, if not what should i do?
I got a 620 on CR and 710 on Math.

I cannot help with the essay score, because I don’t think I’ll ever understand how they score that. (FWIW, my daughter only got an 8 on the essay, but a 770 on that portion of the test, and she is an excellent writer.)

If I were you, I’d get a study guide and just focus on the incorrect answers and omissions (and obviously, the material they cover), then take it again. Those are things you really can improve by studying.

Someone may be able to help you bring up your essay score, but there are other ways to prove your writing skills, such as the essays on the Common App. We were told by our college advisor that colleges care a lot more about the math and CR scores than the writing score so don’t bum out if your essay score doesn’t come up that much when you take the test again.

When I took the test this spring, the highest one could score on the essay was 12 and the number of multiple choice questions was 49. But the multiple choice subscore is scaled up to 80 if you get them all right. Since the test subtracts 1/4 of a point for each missed question, it appears as if your raw subscore would have been 36.

Point is, I’m not sure if you exact score is 100% accurate, but scoring high on the multiple choice can bring up the score a lot. With a perfect multiple choice subscore, it is possible to get an 8 on the essay and get a 780, and a 9 would give you 800.

Raw score of 36 + 7 essay is mid 500s, so your score is accurate.

really, ithought the only way for a 800 WR was 12 essay and like 1 wrong, can someone post the max MC wrong and min. essay score for an 800.

It’s possible to get 800 on most SAT sittings with perfect MCQ and a 9 on the essay.

I had 38 raw score and 6 on essay i got 540 so it is correct
