SAT WRITING SECTION- NE1 kno fo sho???

lol stop getting MC's wrong?

I missed 4, got a 9 on the essay and got a 700 for the October test. Still increased, but not as much as I felt I shoulda (4 wrong and 700? psssht!)

I prepared a lot for that one, but kinda blew off the essay (got an 11 on the essay the time before and I suppose I just underestimated it).

ya its unfair how much a couple of MCs lower ur score drastically. i got perf. MC sections and 10 essay ----> 790. so MC's are really important, i guess. my friend got perf. MC and 8essay--->780. essay isn't as important i dun think

windslicer, how did you do on your other 2 sections?

1540 M/V with 800 Math

Not the strongest SAT score, but my goal for the SATs was just to get high enough so they read the rest of my app. before throwing it out the window ^^

[rant] Seriously. -5 MC out of 49 and 10 essay = 690?! Give me a break!

I have won essay competitions -_-" I just don't memorize those weird idiom rules!! grrrrr [/rant]

winslicer, what are tiy talking about? your score is way above average at princeton...

i really hope they consider it... 750 (79 MC). nothing worse than cb essay graders.

the writing curve seems to fluctuate much more than that of other sections. I got a 760, but I only got 3 MC wrong (12 essay). The essay grading is ridiculous because you could write a mediocre essay, but if you wrote a good hook for your first paragraph, the reader would read your essay rather than skimming and give you a better grade.

I really hate the essay portion of the writing test. The grading is subjective and entirely based on the whim of your grader. I once read that if you write like Hemingway you'd get an excellent score but if you write like Faulkner you'd get an awful one.

Now, I'm not ranting because I bombed the writing section. I'm quite pleased with my 790 (perfect multiple choice, 10 essay). I just don't believe that writing an essay on a topic you've never seen before in 25 minutes is feasible. I'm for abolishing the stupid essay portion because it's grading is arbitrary and I don't believe it accurately presents how well a student can write.

Woah Windslicer, I have 1540(MV) with 800 math as well.

Great minds test alike!
